Event Description

We're offering a 2-part webinar on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome that is open to all who work with children in this spectrum.

Many children with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) go undiagnosed. They also exhibit characteristics and behaviors similar to those in children with autism. How do you differentiate between the two disorders? What are realistic social/emotional and academic expectations for children on the FAS spectrum? What strategies do you use with them? How do you discuss your concerns with parents?

Cost: $95 for WSTC members (Head Start & ECEAP), $130 for non-members. Click here to Register.

This two-part workshop will include:

- Definition and Causes of FASD
- The importance of early intervention and teamwork
- Pre-natal development and the effects of alcohol on the fetus
- Strategies for dealing with specific behaviors
- Characteristics and behaviors common to children with FASD
- Communicating with parents
- The similarities between FASD and autism
- What children with FASD need – at home, in the classroom, - outside the classroom
- The referral process
- Resources
