Denise Louie Education Center honors K&L Gates
Benefiting at-risk, low-income children and families

SEATTLE – June 14, 2010 - Denise Louie Education Center is honoring K&L Gates for its provision of pro-bono legal services during the past 13 years. Services have included review of various contracts, leases, and human resources policies as well as legal advice on a wide range of issues.

K&L Gates Partner Stephanie Wright Pickett states, “K&L Gates has provided strategic legal guidance to the Denise Louie Education Center for many years, working hand-in-hand with the organization to help it continue its outstanding early childhood learning work that is so important to the community. Our firm, which has a rich history of pro bono service, is honored to be recognized by the Denise Louie Education Center."

“We estimate that over the years, the value of these services has totaled more than $100,000. That’s a huge benefit to us and means that we can spend that much more on classroom supplies, teacher salaries, and professional development,“ says Janice Deguchi, Denise Louie Education Center’s Executive Director.

K&L Gates will receive their award at Denise Louie Education Center’s 2010 Dinner and Auction on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at The Showbox SoDo (1700 1st Ave S, Seattle WA 98134) from 5:30-9:30pm. All proceeds from this event will go to fund the early learning and family support services that Denise Louie Education Center offers to over 300 families each year. Last year’s event raised over $84,000 for at-risk families enrolled in the program.
