Head to Macy's Court at Westfield Capital Mall of the kickoff event of Week of the Young Child featuring BlockFest, A Building Block Extravaganza! There will be delightful hands-on activities for children, great information and resources for parents, free books for children, and a grown-up block building competition at 11 am. Ten local agencies are participating - will you join us?!
The address of the Westfield Capital Mall is 625 Black Lake Blvd. Olympia WA 98502.

  • Friday April 30 10:30am at the Graham Library
Join Jumpstart in celebrating Week of the Young Child!
Jumpstart is a national non-profit organization that brings undergraduates into low-income preschool classrooms to promote early literacy and the development of positive social and emotional skills. Jumpstart at the University of Washington works in sixteen preschool classrooms at five different sites throughout the Seattle community.

During the Week of the Young Child we will be having a book drive on the HUB Lawn on the University of Washington campus to collect books for the preschool classrooms we work with and promote awareness of early literacy. Please help support us by coming by and donating a book for a good cause. We will be tabling April 12-17 from 10:00am - 2:00pm.

On Friday, April 16 we will also be having a book drive at Barnes and Noble at University Village to let the larger Seattle community know about Week of the Young Child. If “Jumpstart” is mentioned at the register, a percentage of your purchase will go to our organization and help buy books for our preschoolers.
