Earth Day appropriate curriculum for early childhood?

With Earth Day being observed/celebrated in the US this week, I'm curious what other early childhood teachers and parents feel is appropriate for very young children. I teach 2-3 year olds, and while I usually do some token "clean up the playground" event, I always wonder what, at this age, they can understand about caring for the planet. Any thoughts?
