My dad lives in New York so my gift honoring my father was limited to a phone call and gift certificate to a small, independent movie theater that my dad likes. Just a week prior though, as a "thank you" for nursing me through a surgery I did sent him a pair of wool REI socks and an invitation back out to Seattle to hike Rainier next summer.

This was a first father's day for our immediate family. Our treat was sleeping in as long as we could, and a late afternoon nap. We also had the family over, three generations all together.
