In addition to my work with the Foundation for Early Learning, I will be volunteering with the local non-profit Powerful Schools and in an indirect way, will be serving children by participating in a street cleaning project through the adopt-a-street program on Saturday morning.
I am spending the week with my son, 6 months old, and other families with young children. I plan to read an extra story to him each night and enjoy every minute of his little life. It goes by so fast!
I will be spending the weekend with my niece and nephew. We like to play outside together and have contests to see who can run the fastest. My 7-year-old niece usually wins...
We're hosting a classroom of children enrolled in a local ECEAP site at the DEL state office. We've got a fun art activity planned!
In addition to my rewarding day-to-day work at the Foundation for Early Learning, I plan to try and meet my new friend Ivan Hein (age 3 weeks)!
Our Partner Thrive shared these events in their recent newsletter:
  • Monday: Seeds of Compassion - One Year Later: A look at what has happened since last year's "Seeds of Compassion" conference in Seattle with the Dalai Lama.
  • Tuesday: Reach Out and Read Washington State
  • Wednesday: Thrive by Five Washington Demonstration Communities
  • Thursday: The Early Childhood Education Assistance Program (ECEAP)
  • Friday: Family, Friends and Neighbors Care (FFN)
I'm going to spend some valuable time with my friend and her six-month old baby boy this week! Maybe we'll head to Greenlake for some sun, fun and games!
We've done a week of school events, with an art walk on Monday, a garden party on Wednesday, and a potluck and preschool singing performance on Friday. It's been a great way to bring out community together and a wonderful opportunity for parents to see more of what we do every day.
Thank you to all those who participated in Week of the Young Child!
