Finding Benefits and Help



All states offer benefits and free resources to support parents as their children grow and develop. This support includes free and low cost programs for health insurance and food assistance.

Parents can learn about state-sponsored health insurance for children in their area by calling 1-877-543-7669 or visiting Insure Kids Now. Food programs are available to help parents provide their children with the nutrition that they need to grow and be healthy. These programs include Food Stamps and WIC (Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program).

Families can also find local resources like food banks, low-cost clinics and housing by calling 2-1-1, or by searching their local 211 website.

    The Family Health Hotline connects your family to health and food resources anywhere in Washington. Knowledgeable and friendly staff have up-to-date information on state-sponsored health insurance and food programs.

    They screen callers for eligibility, explain how programs work and can assist families in applying for:
    • Apple Health for Kids (free & low-cost health insurance for children)
    • First Steps (Pregnancy Medical)
    • Family Medical
    • Take Charge family planning coverage
    • WIC (the Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program)
    • Basic Food (Food Stamps)

Callers are also connected with services in their local community including: low-cost medical clinics, immunizations, prescription assistance, WIC Clinics, food banks, Summer Meal sites, child care, resources for children with specials needs and more.......
