Seattle Early Education Collaborative (SEEC) is a community collaborative of stakeholders and partners working together to create a shared vision for early learning in Seattle and to achieve greater gains for children. Our stakeholders and partners include Step Ahead and ECEAP programs and Head Start grantees.
SEEC connects three working groups into a coordinated structure.
These groups are:
- Assessment and Accountability Workgroup
- Professional Development Workgroup
- Transition Work Group
WHY SEEC? We believe that we can do more for kids, and do it better, through collaboration rather than acting on our own. Early examples of this are the 2007 and 2008 joint trainings, the UPK standards, development of the Kindergarten Readiness Guidelines and the 2008 assessments which will give us far better data than ever before to inform professional development and quality improvement efforts.
We envision that we will collaborate by creating a shared vision, aligning outcomes and strategies, sharing expertise and, in some cases, funding. The initial agreement between the City of Seattle, for Step Ahead and ECEAP, and the Head Start Grantees includes the commitment to work together as SEEC on community assessment, professional development and assessment, recruitment, enrollment and waiting lists, child development and health services, parent and community services and communication.
