How did you become passionate about early learning?
I've nearly always been interested in teaching and I love kids. Being a parent has seriously strengthened both my desire to teach and my yearning to be around and teach young children.
Tell us more about your interests and background
I come from a family of six with three sisters. Graduated high school in Shelton, Washington, and did one year of community college in Shelton before becoming pregnant and married at 19. My first child was born one month after my 20th birthday; he just turned 14!!
I divorced my abusive husband in 2004 and am now remarried. My current husband and I have known each other for about 24-25 years, came very close to dating in high school, and are extremely happy and healthy together. He brought with him three children from his first marriage that ended in divorce in 2006; they are now 8, 7, and 6!!
We are a blended family with weaknesses and strengths, we struggle to get by financially, but we have a lot of love to give!! My husband and I are about ready to try to add another face or two to this brood and I can hardly wait!! Finances beign what they are, however, I am a bit scared of the idea. I've been out of work for 10 months now and have recently been looking into getting a daycare license and operating an in-home daycare, allowing myself to be home and available to my own kids and family, not to worry about a pregnancy interfering with a new job, while bringing in an income. I would like information on that, as well as information that will help me as a parent and stepparent.
I am interested in my family first and foremost; we have three boys, a girl, and a dog. :) I love sports, especially when my kids play!! I love riding dirtbikes and quads, waterskiing, camping, hiking, swimming, reading, writing, driving around in the country, and being anywhere my husband or kids are. :)
