The New York Times published an excellent article today about the importance of talking with your kids, no matter how young, and cites some great examples: counting the steps while ascending them, asking your child what they'd like for a snack, and importantly, paying attention when your child talks to you. I find the idea of putting down that cell or iPhone when your child has something to say a particularly potent reminder today as we find ourselves making less and less eye contact with each other.
