Tips and resources to support children birth to age five
As you might be aware, the Foundation for Early Learning recently celebrated a significant milestone. With our most recent grants to groups in Grays Harbor, Kittitas and Whitman Counties, we have now funded coalitions serving every county in Washington State. In total, the Foundation for Early learning has granted over $800,000 to 26 coalitions over the past three years --- all to support Washington’s youngest learners. From the most rural counties to the most urban, communities are working together to ensure children are ready to succeed in kindergarten.
I’m excited about Washington State’s progress. However, what I’m really excited about is coffee.
Drip, espresso or a latte, I love it all and not just for the caffeinated boost it provides in the morning. Coffee is a social mechanism for building relationships. People all across Washington State and the world drink coffee with friends and colleagues.
The Foundation for Early Learning provides Stage One $2,000 grants to plan a meeting, bring together community members, rent a meeting space, and to yes, to purchase coffee. The Stage One grants that help purchase coffee (among other things), support an essential component for creating a vibrant early learning network in our state: relationships.
This is why coffee matters.
